Watson History – George and Betty (Elizabeth)

George Watson attended Penn State as an agricultural student. He did not graduate but attended for 2 years, probably 11914-1915. As part of his schooling, he would test cows. This testing was designed to measure the amount of butterfat the cows were producing. The more butterfat (cream) there is, the better price the farmers would get. During one trip, he stopped at the farm of Hugh Furgus. Hugh told him of a girl he should meet up the road, that girl was Elizabeth (Betty) Dunning. Betty Dunning had attended Union High School and also pursued some college education to become a school teacher.

They were married in 1918. They had a son, Lloyd Wendell (b.1919), and a daughter, Ethel Elizabeth (b. 1921). Then, in 1927, Henry Wilson Watson was also born. Wilson was not expected, and my grandmother used to say he was the best surprise she ever got.

Below is the first Photo of Henry Wilson, son of Elizabeth and George, December 1927.
